XIXth CENTURY FOUNTAINS (4th page)

Pertevniyal Valide Sultan Fountain
Founder : Pertevniyal Valide Sultan, mother of Sultan Abdülaziz.
Date :1288 AH / 1871
Location : On either side of the central courtyard gate of Valide Mosque in Aksaray
Type : Single face wall fountain in four sections.

 

 

Hüseyin Avni Paşa Fountain
Founder : Hüseyin Avni Paşa, grand vezir and commander-in-chief.
Date :1291 AH / 1874
Location : On Paşalimanı Caddesi in Üsküdar
Type : Single face wall fountain.

 

 

Dayı Ömer ve Nafia Hanım Fountain

Founder : Dayı Ömer and Nafia Hanım.
Date :1300 AH / 1882
Location : Çavuşzade Mosque in the grounds of Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty in Cerrahpaşa.
Type : Single face freestanding fountain.

 

 

Horhor Fountain
Founder : Unknown.
Date :1293 AH / 1876
Location : An apartment building on Horhor Caddesi in Aksaray
Type : Pair of single face wall fountains

 

 

Bâlâ Teknesi Fountain
Founder : Şeyh Mehmed Sadeddin Efendi and Şeyh Said Ali Efendi.
Date :1309 AH / 1891
Location : In the middle of Bâlâ Tekkesi Sebils in Silivrikapı.
Type : Single face wall fountain with sebils.

 

 

 

 

Perestû Kadın Fountain
Founder : Perestû Kadın, the sixth wife of Sultan Abdülmecid, in memory of Bali Süleyman Ağa, chief gunner to Sultan Mehmed Han.
Date :1313 AH / 1895
Location : Opposite Bâlâ Tekkesi in Silivrikapı
Type : Single face wall fountain.

 

 

Fountain Opposite the Openair Theatre
Founder : Unknown.
Date :19th century.
Location : Originally next to Hasan Paşa Police Station on Beşiktaş Caddesi in Beşiktaş, and later moved to its present position opposite the Openair Theatre in Taksim.
Type : Single face wall fountain in three sections.

 

 

 

Alman (German) Fountain
Founder : Kaiser Wilhelm II as a gift to Sultan Abdülhamid II.
Date :1316AH / 1898
Location : In Sultanahmet Park.
Type : Freestanding fountain.
