Elif Naci

Elif Naci (1898-1988)

She was born in Gelibolu in 1898. After completing her primary and secondary education, she entered the Fine Arts Academy and graduated from the studio of İbrahim Çallı. The artist worked as a painting teacher for a while, and also as director of the Turkish Islamic Museum. After joining the Public Institution Project in 1940, she produced beautiful landscapes of Samsun.

She is the first artist whose name comes to mind when Group D is mentioned. She served Turkish art not only by her artistic career, but also in her writings. Her book “Painting in 10 years” was published in 1933.

The artist held many exhibitions and won a number of prizes. Her works can be seen at the State Painting Sculpture museums and in private and state collections. She died in 1988.
