Feyhaman Duran

Feyhaman Duran (1886-1970)

He was born in Istanbul in 1886. After graduating from Galatasaray High School, he was sent to Paris by Halim Paşa, the Egyptian Prince, to study painting. He became a student of Jean Paul Laurens and Albert Laurens at the Academy of Julian. Later he continued his education at the Paris Fine Arts Academy in Cormon’s studio. He returned to Türkiye in 1914.

Some of his portraits were displayed at J. Gialata’s exhibition. He was appointed to the Sanayi – i Nefise Mektebi in 1919. His efforts particularly assisted the development of “The Association of Turkish Artists” and “The Association of Fine Arts.” The artist worked as a teacher at the Fine Arts Academy from 1933 to 1951, dying in 1970.
