AKAY, Abdullah

Poet (b. 10 March 1930, Bünyan / Kayseri). He attended Kayseri Technical High School (1951). He served in the Turkish Armed Forces (1952-73), the Armed Forces Pension Fund (1976-90) and at the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation’s Head Quarters. He works in İstanbul.

His early poems were published in the review Volkan (Kayseri). His other poems and works were published in the reviews Edebiyat Alemi (1953), Türk Sesi (1955), Atayol (1966), Özdemokrat (1957-58), Filiz 1958-65), Ekonomik Yorum Millî Kültür (1985-89), Türk Dili (1985-96), Kemalist Ülkü (1993-96), Edebiyat Güncesi (1995-96), Littera (1989-96), İlkyaz Belde. He wrote columns in the newspapers Ankara’da Barış and Ekonomik Yorum. His poems were chosen by the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation to be set to music for the repertoire. He is a member of the Turkish Authors Association and the Professional Association of Scientific and Literary Work Owners of Türkiye.
