ALPAY, H. Cengiz

Poet (b. 1922, Gürün / Sivas – d. 1991, İstanbul). He was brought up with private lessons in a family of poets. His grandfather used the pen name “İrfani” and his father was Muhammed Sezai who wrote poems under the pen name “Layıkî”. He inherited his passion for reading from his father.

After his father’s death, he worked as an accountant and in manufacturing. He founded the Nakışlar Publishing House in 1973. He was known for his humorous articles published in various newspapers. He wrote poems in syllabic meter in minstrel style as well as odes and quatrains.
