ALPAY, Ulviye

Storywriter (b. 27 June 1951, Adana). She attended the Ankara Zübeyde Hanım High School. She worked in a state organization in Ankara (1973- 79) and afterwards settled in İstanbul. She has focused on writing since 1996. She is a member of Language Society, the Turkish Authors Association and the Writers Syndicate of Türkiye.

Her works have been published in the reviews Türk Dili Dergisi, Varlık, Kıyı, Çağdaş Türk Dili and Adam Öykü and in the newspaper Bizim Gazete. She received the Achievement Award at the short story competition held by the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation’s Middle Eastern Anatolia TV Project in 1998 with her short story Tombala (Bingo) and she won the Yunus Nadi Short Story Award in 1999 with her book Mavi Bir Merhaba (A Blue Hello). Her work aimed at children as been broadcast on the programs Pırpır and Bir Kedi Kükredi on Turkish Radio and Television Corporation channels.
