ALTINTAŞ, Günel

Poet (b. 1937, Suruç / Şanlıurfa). He has also written under the pen name Suat Yağmuroğlu. He attended the Haydarpaşa High School (1958) and graduated from İstanbul University, Faculty of Law. He founded the Seçme Kitaplar Publishing House after working at the Erzurum and İstanbul branches of the Press Advertisement Department. His essays and poetry first appeared in 1960 in Varlık Yıllığı and after were published in reviews such as Yeni Ufuklar, Evrim, Su, Yelken, Varlık and Soyut (1965-77) which he also ran. He came first at a poetry competition held by the Bakırköy People’s House (1963) and at an article competition held by the newspaper Cumhuriyet (1965).
